About Me
Although born in England, Sean Hewitt spent his childhood on the island of Cyprus, inspiring in him a lifelong love of colour, particularly the glorious sunshine yellows and azure iridescent blues of the Mediterranean landscape. This exciting contrast of hot and cool colours is reflected in his work.
Formally trained in Exeter, he moved to Cornwall 35 years ago and, since then, has taught art to many thousands of children and adults in secondary schools and colleges in Mid Cornwall.
Inspired by aerial photographs of road networks, his work juxtaposes these unusual shapes with layered prisms of colour to create visually stunning and exciting compositions. A former music journalist (better known as Matt Vinyl ) his deep love of all kinds of music is also reflected in his paintings which bear the titles of the songs which have inspired him.
